WES SP8 INSPIRED BAKALAVA

Ingredients

-1 12 oz package of Filo Dough

-1 cup of chopped Walnuts

– 2 cups of chopped Almonds

– 2  and 1/4 cups of Ground Sugar

– 2 cups of Water

-2 teaspoon of Cinnamon

-1 tablespoon Lemon Juice

– 1 stick of melted Butter

Directions

1) Mix nuts, 1/4 cup of sugar, and cinnamon in a medium mixing bowl and set aside.

2) In a medium saucepan, mix 2 cups of sugar, water, and lemon juice together. Then bring it to a boil and simmer the syrup under reduced heat for 10 minutes and then set aside.

3) Apply the melted butter to a 12 by 10 baking dish and then apply the butter to 10 individual sheets of Filo dough and put them in the baking dish.

4)  Add the nut mixture on top of the buttered Filo Dough in the baking pan.

5) Take 10 more sheets of Filo Dough and butter each individual sheet and place it on top of the nut mixture. Then trim the edges of the excess dough hanging from the pan and then butter the top of the second layer of filo dough.

5) Preheat oven for 325 F.

6) Cut diagonal lines in the dough in the baking pan to form the Baklava into diamond shapes.

7)  Bake for one hour or until golden brown . Then remove from the oven and top with the syrup.

8) Allow the Baklava to sit for about 5 hours to allow the syrup to fully absorb into the dough.

9) Serve and FLAVOR EXPLOSION 🙂
