Lemon Pepper Wings paired with Satchel Gore’s electronic party vibes are the perfect duo for this next feature. Check out the recipe below!

Satchel Gore began his music journey around the age of 13, though his first instrument was the drums, which he started playing at eight years old. He was motivated to play alongside his brothers, who were guitarists, and in the early days, he would pound the drums as hard as he could. His drum teacher persistently encouraged him to participate in a beat-making program, and once he gave it a shot, Satchel instantly fell in love with music production, particularly the creation and post-production process. That’s where his passion for music truly ignited. His drum teacher played a crucial role in fostering his love, especially in the digital side of music-making.

When it comes to music inspiration, Satchel has an incredibly eclectic taste, drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists. Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, and even Green Day have all played a role in shaping his sound. Though these artists belong to very different genres, they’ve all deeply influenced Satchel, with Green Day being a particular favorite-he’s attended more of their concerts than any other artist. Satchel’s own music style is hard to pin down. While he began producing hip-hop, a genre he remains passionate about, he has recently ventured into the electronic scene, blending classic hip-hop with modern electronic and EDM styles. Rave culture has also been a big influence on his recent work. Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in music management and audio production at the Harris Institute in Toronto, Satchel has been busy preparing for the release of his latest album this past year.

On August 9th of this year, Satchel released a 10-track album entitled, Something Special I Cannot Describe. This album immediately evokes the vibe of a club or rave, with a mix of electronic hip-hop beats with my favorite tracks being “Breathe”, “Problems to Be”, “Come Take a Trip with Me”, and “July 4th”. Now that the album is out, he is eager to perform live shows across Canada. While putting on more live shows is a goal, Satchel never compromises to ensure the performances are engaging and memorable for his audience. He wants his shows to be more than just a performance – he aims to create experiences fans will remember for a long time.

Looking ahead, Satchel plans to release more music. He’s excited about exploring more creative opportunities while continuing to focus on live performances. For him, connecting with new audiences through live shows is key, especially as social media only goes so far in reaching new listeners. Although he will continue to release more music, he’s cautious not to fall into the trap of only dropping singles for the sake of staying relevant and wanting to maintain depth in his music. He wants listeners to feel something, to experience the energy and emotion in his work. Satchel’s ultimate goal is to create a sustainable music career, collaborating with friends and sharing his craft with the world. He acknowledges the challenges of being an artist, especially when there’s no plan b, but he believes in pushing through the challenges and continuing to pursue his dreams relentlessly.

Whether they’re dancing or simply vibing to the sound, he hopes to leave a lasting impact through his performances and recordings. Be sure to check out Satchel Gore’s album, Something Special I Cannot Describe, available on Spotify and all streaming platforms. When it comes to food, Satchel Gore isn’t much of a seafood eater with canned tuna being the extent of it. But then it comes to other types of food, he’s all in. The first that comes to mind for Satchel is bar and club food. Growing up playing hockey, he often ended up at pubs after practice, enjoying burgers, chicken wings, smash burgers, and similar pub fare. He finds hot dogs nostalgic, too reminding him of post-hockey meals. Among his favorite foods, chicken wings top the list. He especially loves dry wings like lemon pepper, though buffalo wings are a close second. On a daily basis, Satchel leans towards leftovers and enjoys steak, chicken, and breakfast tacos, which he loves making. Fried chicken is another big favorite.

Satchel is also a huge snacker, often preferring snacks over full meals. He loves chips, particularly salty ones like salt and vinegar, and any kind of Dorito. He’s also into trail mix and anything savory over sweet. When it comes to desserts, Satchel isn’t big on sweets, but ice cream is his exception. He loves gelato, sorbet, and all kinds of ice cream, with flavors like vanilla, Funfetti, birthday cake, and cookies and cream being his go-to choices. One of Satchel’s favorite local spots is Cherry Street Barbecue in Toronto, which he absolutely loves.

Inspired by his love for lemon pepper wings, I decided to make them myself, using some quality organic lemon pepper seasoning, butter, fresh herbs, and a squeeze of fresh lemon. Tossing them in a buttery lemon sauce with more lemon pepper and garnishing with fresh chopped parsley, they’ll make for a delicious snack. Perfect while lounging around and vibing to Satchel Gore’s latest album. Check out the recipe below!

Lemon Pepper Wings

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds of chicken wings, patted dry with a paper towel
  • 2 tablespoons organic lemon pepper seasoning (I used a salt-free version)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ tablespoons EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • zest of one lemon
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup grass-fed butter, melted
  • fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Directions

  1. Toss wings with flour and baking powder. Refrigerate covered for two hours.
  2. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent the wings from sticking.
  4. Toss wings with olive oil, 1 tablespoon lemon pepper, salt, and lemon zest.
  5. Bake the wings for 40 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. A couple minutes before the wings are done, combine the melted butter, 1 tablespoon lemon pepper, and lemon juice.
  7. When the wings are done, remove from the oven and toss in the melted butter wing sauce.
  8. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve immediately. Enjoy!
